Races

Here is a brief listing of the races of Spaeculum. Eventually the races will be added in more detail to the wiki, but you can use this page to get a pretty good feel for the different races of people that inhabit Spaeculum.

Humans: Humans on Spaeculum are pretty much the same as humans on earth. They are the most versatile of the different races, but are also considered by many to be the weakest. Humans are most common in Ortheng, Prenna and Deguf.

Oscurans: Oscurans look just like humans in appearance, but they can become invisible at will. Many Oscurans choose to live among humans, disguised as them, because of the extreme prejudice that most humans have against them. They are thought to be sneaky because of their unique power.

Enhorne: Enhorne are human-shaped, but have a body covered in thick armor. They have enormous claws instead of hands, and a long tail with a stinger at the end. In some places they are called the "Scorpion-men" for obvious reasons. They were kept imprisoned in the Desert of Uberoth by humans who feared them, until in the year 503 they rebelled and ravaged the country of Ortheng. They currently live almost exclusively in Ortheng, setting up their stone castles and attempting to take over the entire country.

Meldi: The Meldi are incredibly intelligent human-like people with black hair and eyes and a very dark complexion. They are known for their incredible intelligence, being able to solve the most difficult of problems effortlessly and requiring no education whatsoever. They can also move objects with their telekinetic powers, communicate with one another telepathically, and think new Meldi into existence as adults rather than breeding and having babies. They are feared by many (especially in Deguf), but are generally a peaceful people.

Omnisca: The Omnisca are born seemingly at random and can only be identified by a unique mark on the palms of their right hand (or the closest thing to that available). They live for exactly 100 years, and their lifespan is divided into 4 25-year periods. At the beginning of each period, they may choose what race they want to be, but they must change races at the end of each period. They live lives of loneliness and often feel as though they don't belong anywhere.

Gyoli: There are two main kinds of Gyoli: red and blue. In appearance, they are both humanlike in shape (although bald) and are covered in scales. They are both amphibians and adept swimmers. However, the red ones are able to scream loudly enough to displace and terrify those who hear them, while the blue ones can fly. If a red and blue Gyoli mate, they have purple offspring with the same ability (either screaming or flying) as the father had.

Kulj: The Kulj are enormous, half-man, half spider, who mostly inhabit Deguf and are some of the best fighters in the Mors Arena. Outside the arena, however, they are often quite gentle. They are able to drink as much alcohol as they want without becoming intoxicated or impaired in any way, but water is extremely poisonous to them if imbibed.

Resolnix: A Resolnix is born from one of the volcanoes on Fallen Island. They have one gender only, resembling female of other genders most closely, and are humanlike in appearance, with the exception of being very tall and having oddly long necks. They can come in any color of skin and are known for their ability to manipulate nature to their pleasing.
